WordPress Setup
Connect your WordPress site so Notipo can create posts, upload images, and manage categories.
Requirements
- A self-hosted WordPress site (wordpress.org, not wordpress.com free tier)
- WordPress REST API enabled (enabled by default)
- An admin user with an application password
One-Click Connection (Recommended)
The easiest way to connect WordPress — no need to manually create an application password:
- 1In the Notipo dashboard, enter your Site URL (e.g.
https://yourblog.com) - 2Click Connect WordPress
- 3You'll be redirected to your WordPress admin — log in if prompted
- 4Click Yes, I approve of this connection
- 5You'll be redirected back to Notipo — done!
WordPress creates the application password automatically and sends it back to Notipo. This requires WordPress 5.6 or later (released December 2020).
Manual Connection (Fallback)
If the one-click flow doesn't work (e.g. older WordPress versions or custom server configurations), you can enter credentials manually:
- 1Log in to your WordPress admin (wp-admin)
- 2Go to Users → Profile
- 3Scroll down to Application Passwords
- 4Enter a name (e.g. "Notipo") and click Add New Application Password
- 5Copy the generated password — you won't be able to see it again
In the Notipo dashboard, click Enter credentials manually and provide:
- Site URL — your WordPress site address (e.g. https://yourblog.com)
- Username — your WordPress admin username
- Application Password — the password you just generated
Notipo will test the connection before saving. If the credentials are invalid or the site is unreachable, you'll see an error message.
Categories & Tags
When you connect WordPress, Notipo automatically imports all your categories and tags and pushes them to your Notion database as select options. This happens in the background — no manual setup needed.
You can view and manage them on the Categories & Tags page in the dashboard. If you add new categories or tags in WordPress, click the Syncbutton to import them immediately, or they'll be picked up on the next automatic sync.
Each category can have a custom background image for featured image generation. Click on a category's thumbnail on the Categories & Tags page to upload one.
Rank Math SEO (Optional)
If you use Rank Math SEO, Notipo automatically sets the focus keyword, SEO title, and meta description for each post when it syncs. No code snippets or extra configuration needed — Notipo detects Rank Math when you connect WordPress and writes metadata directly via Rank Math's native REST API.
Just install Rank Math, add an SEO Keyword to your Notion posts, and Notipo handles the rest. See the SEO automation blog post for a detailed walkthrough.
